Coupling Coordination Between Digital Economy and Green Innovation in China:Major Regional Development Strategy
Based on the coupling coordination between digital economy and green innovation in China's 30 provinces(municipalities and autonomous regions)from 2013 to 2021,and considering the major regional development strategy, this paper demonstrates and analyses the causes of the characteristics of spatio-temporal evolution and its differences by using the models such as Theil index and Moran's index. The paper firstly shows that digital economy and green innovation had a steady growth in China.Spatially, they were both developed in provinces along the Yangtze River and the sea at first and then promoted na-tionwide.Notably,regional disparities in the digital economy and green innovation led to three distinct levels of development among five regions. Then the paper finds that the overall coupling coordination was improved from severe imbalance to mild imbalance. However, there was a long-term polarization in the digital economy and green innovation of China, where the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Ar-ea remained far ahead of other four regions.Subsequently, the overall difference in coupling coordination, which mainly resulted from the differences within region, was narrowed. The largest differences within re-gion existed in the region of ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River ba-sin,and the Yangtze River Economic Belt contributed most to the China's overall difference. The paper fi-nally shows that the coupling coordination had significant and positive spatial autocorrelation, which had a decreasing trend. The gathering of provinces with high-value coupling coordination were proved signifi-cantly in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, while significant low-value clustering ap-peared in the middle and upper reaches of the Yellow River Basin.
