The Export Trade Effect of RTA from the Perspective of Networking
This paper constructs the global regional trade agreement(RTA)network for the years 1995 to 2021 based on the database of RTA signing status in various countries provided by DESTA database, and calculates the centrality indicators of each country in the global RTA network.Subsequently,an extended gravity model is used to empirically analyze the export trade effects of RTAs with different network statuses(measured by the status of partner countries in the global RTA network)from the perspective of network status heterogeneity. The findings are that:(1)signing RTAs with partner countries with higher network status is more conducive to promoting a country's exports to partner countries, that is,RTAs with higher network status have a greater export trade promotion effect;(2)Promoting technology diffusion and reducing export trade costs are the two main chan-nels for RTA with high network status to promote domestic exports to partner countries;(3)The export trade effect of RTAs with different network statuses varies significantly with the level of economic development of exporting countries and the types of ex-ported products. The paper provides important insights for addressing global economic integration, and provides new ideas for China's comprehensive integration into the global network of regional trade agreements, the construction of a high standard free trade network, and the full utilization of RTA networks to assist economic development.
