Robots and Entrepreneurship——A Test Based on Marx's Law of Labor Transformation
The law of labor transformation is the key of Marx's theory of labor development. At present, robots are widely used, and the significance of law of labor transformation proposed by Marx is worth paying attention to.In view of this, this paper constructs a logical framework based on Marxist political economy theory and Timmons model, uses microscopic data to test how robots promote entrepreneurship. This paper finds that:firstly, robots can promote entrepreneurship, and this conclusion still holds after using instrumental variables and conducting sensitivity tests.Secondly, mechanism analysis shows that robots can pro-mote entrepreneurship through"throwing out workers-increase entrepreneurs, increasing productivity-increase entrepreneurial resources and generating new labor-increase entrepreneurial opportunities".Finally, the extended analyses show that,distin-guishing between industries, industrial robots promote more entrepreneurship in the service sector;distinguishing between cities, industrial robots promote more entrepreneurship in cities with higher levels of social security and public education spending;and distinguishing between types of entrepreneurship, industrial robots promote more survival-oriented entrepreneurship. The con-clusion of this paper reminds that while promoting intelligence,we should promote entrepreneurship which is"reservoir"of em-ployment and help workers adapt to the laws of labor transformation.
