Digital Inputs and Structural Optimization in Manufacturing Industry:Internal Mechanisms and Empirical Basis
Digitalization is the main trend in the development of modern manufacturing industry,and strengthening the digital input can provide new opportunities for the optimization of manufacturing structure.Based on China's provincial panel data from 2003 to 2020,this paper explores the effect and mechanism of digital inputs on manufacturing structure optimization.It is found that digital inputs significantly promote the optimization of manufacturing structure,and this promotion effect is more significant in the eastern region,higher economic development level,better rule of law environment and higher entrepreneurial activity samples.Mechanism analysis shows that digital technology is an important role mechanism for digital inputs to affect the optimization of manufacturing structure.Specifically,artificial intelligence,blockchain,cloud computing and big data technology innovation all have a positive moderating effect,but the enabling effect of big data technology is more significant.The digital in-dustry also strengthens the facilitating effect of digital inputs on the optimization of manufacturing structure,and the digital ser-vice industry and digital inputs have significant complementary effects.Digital business model is also an important channel of in-fluence.The above findings are of great practical significance for fully releasing the"digital dividend",bridging the"digital di-vide"between regions,and broadening the realization path of manufacturing structure optimization.
