Does Digital Transformation Promote Rural Innovation and Entrepreneurship?--A Quasi-Natural Experiment Based on the"National Digital Village Pilot"Policy
Rural innovation and entrepreneurship are vital drivers of industrial growth,supporting comprehensive rural re-vitalization.Using the"national digital village pilot"as a quasi-natural experiment and China Rural Entrepreneurship Index(CREI),this study employs a DID model to assess the impact and mechanisms of digital transformation on rural innovation and entrepreneurship.Results show that digital transformation significantly boosts rural innovation and entrepreneurship,with robust-ness checks confirming these findings.Heterogeneity analysis reveals stronger effects in Southern,low-altitude,and high urban-rural mobility areas.Mechanism analysis suggests that digital transformation promotes rural innovation by enhancing employ-ment and access to financing.This study reveals the mechanism of rural innovation and entrepreneurship driven by digital trans-formation,and provides useful reference for clarifying the theoretical framework and policy effectiveness of digital empowerment for comprehensive rural revitalization.
