The Impact of Digital Transformation on the Firm Pay Gap
Based on data from China's A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2020,this paper empirically examined the impact of dig-ital transformation on the firm pay gap from the perspective of pay gap decomposition.The results show that digital transformation wid-ens the reasonable firm pay gap,but doesn't reduce the excessive firm pay gap.As a whole,digital transformation widens the firm pay gap.Mechanism analysis shows that digital transformation promotes corporate innovation,and managers receive higher pay for their in-tellectual capital in innovative activities.thus,the reasonable firm pay gap is widened.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the effect of digital transformation on the widening of the reasonable firm pay gap is more substantial in state-controlled and non-high-tech firms.
