RCEP,Comparative Advantage in Trade, and Value Chain Division of Labor Status
With the signing of the RCEP regional agreement,China will shift from participating in the global value chain led by the U-nited States and Germany to dominating the regional value chain itself.Based on this, the panel data of RCEP member countries from 2007 to 2021 are used to analyze the practical basis, comparative advantage, and the impact of the strengthening of trade links between China and other member countries on the value chain division status. The results show that China is at the top of the RCEP regional value chain, and the RCEP regional agreement will help China realize the promotion of the international division of labor and resist the adverse impact brought by the reshaping of the global value chain. The comparative advantages of RCEP member states and the strengthening of trade links between them have a significant positive impact on their respective positions in the value chain, and there is a mutually reinforcing interaction effect and a threshold effect with technological progress as the threshold variable. However, the com-parative advantages of different industries have different impacts on the value chain division status, and the comparative advantages of high-tech manufacturing and service industries have more significant effects on the value chain division status. The paper gives the pol-icy implications and believes that China should continue to promote the improvement of the RCEP cooperation mechanism and play a good role in the RCEP regional value chain,to consolidate and enhance China's leading position in the RCEP regional value chain.
