Impact and Mechanism of the Digital Economy on the Resilience of Enterprise Supply Chains:From Changes in the Number of Enterprise Suppliers
The slowdown in global economic growth,the chaos in the international economic order,and the rise of trade protectionism have aroused concerns to the resilience of supply chains.This article employs the panel data of listed companies during 2011-2021 to analyze the impact of digital economy development on the resilience of enterprise supply chains and decipher the underlying mechanism.The results indicate that the development of the digital economy has significantly improved the resilience of enterprise supply chains.The digital economy exerts stronger enhancing effect on the supply chain resilience of the enterprises with low network location,market share,and technical content.In addition,the enhancing effect is stronger for the en-terprises in the system environment with a high level of marketization.In terms of the impact mechanism,the reductions in external search costs and internal management costs are the two main channels through which the digital economy affects the resilience of enterprise supply chains.Furthermore,the development of the digi-tal economy not only improves the resilience of supply chains but also accelerates the localization of suppliers.The article elaborates on the impact and mechanism of the digital economy in empowering the real economy from a new perspective,providing enlightenment for China to enhance supply chain resilience and build a new development pattern by reform and policy design.
