Digital Economy,Scientific and Technological Innovation,and Upgrading of Industrial Structure
As the wave of digitalization is sweeping across the world,the digital economy has become an im-portant driving force for the upgrading of China's industrial structure.With the panel data from 30 provincial-level administrative regions in China during 2013-2022,this study employs the entropy method to measure the development of China's digital economy.Furthermore,the mediating effect and the spatial Tobit model are adopted to probe into the transmission mechanism of the digital economy,scientific and technological innova-tion,and industrial structure upgrading.The results show that the digital economy has a direct positive effect on the upgrading of industrial structure,which is still tenable after robustness tests.Scientific and technologi-cal innovation mediates the effect of the digital economy on industrial structure upgrading.The development of the digital economy presents regional heterogeneity and has a positive spatial spillover effect on the upgrading of industrial structure.According to the results,the development strategies should be formulated considering regional differences.Scientific and technological innovation should be levered to release the potential of the digital economy and promote the comprehensive upgrading of the industrial structure,thus boosting the high-quality development of China's economy.
