The rapid development of information technologies such as the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence has subverted the capitalist mode of production, while arousing the question:will big data lead to the end of capitalism? This article employs the"digital repair-private ownership confrontation"framework to explain the contradictory relationship between big data and capitalist system and provide an answer to this question.Big data is a self-repair mechanism born by capitalism to overcome the inherent four contradictions in production, circulation, exchange, and ideology, known as"digital repair."However,in the case of private ownership, big data finds it difficult to overcome the inherent contradictions of capitalism, and instead,it will strengthen the adversarial relationship of capitalism. For capitalist society, big data not only is an economic is-sue based on technological revolution but also involves politics and culture.Big data strengthens the class power of the bourgeoisie within a country and further divides and disrupts the political and economic land-scape on a global scale.Big data does not change the fundamental mode of production in the capitalist system, and its class attribute makes it unable to break through the capitalist system under private ownership condi-tions.Therefore,big data will not lead to the end of capitalism.Capitalism can never achieve its own transfor-mation through internal improvement, and hoping the bourgeoisie to reform the existing capitalist system will ultimately be a castle in the air.
