Artificial intelligence,a general purpose technology in the fourth industrial revolution,is pen-etrating into various aspects and links of industrial development,becoming a driving force for industrial trans-formation and leading the building of a modern industrial system.Artificial intelligence brings about changes in the industrial system and empowers China's modern industrial system mainly from three aspects:factors,enterprises,and industries.Specifically,artificial intelligence enhances the functionality of data,improves the quality of production factors,and promotes factor allocation optimization and coordinated development.Artificial intelligence fuels fundamental changes of enterprise production methods,organizational structures,business models,and research and development paradigms.Artificial intelligence promotes the intelligent,in-tegrated,and low-carbon development of industries,advances the high-end structures of industries,and drives the optimization and upgrading of industrial and supply chains.At present,China has achieved certain results in empowering the modern industrial system via the development of artificial intelligence,while there are also problems.It is suggested that future efforts should be made to accelerate the building of an artificial intelligence industry ecosystem,strengthen the innovation of fundamental technologies in artificial intelli-gence,deploy digital infrastructure in a moderately advanced manner,accelerate the intelligent,digital,and networked transformation of enterprises,promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence with the three industries,and improve the modernization of industrial and supply chains.These measures will comprehen-sively improve the empowerment of China's modern industrial system by artificial intelligence.
