Since the beginning of the 21st century, the transformation of new and old momentum of China's industries has experienced three stages.First, from joining the World Trade Organization to the international fi-nancial crisis, the overseas market demand was the strong momentum, and light industry drove the develop-ment of heavy industry.Second, from the international financial crisis to the Sino-US trade friction,urbaniza-tion drove domestic demand and accelerated the development of the heavy chemical industry.Third, since the Sino-US trade friction, the demand for domestic substitution has led to the development of the high-tech manufacturing industry, and the service industry has become the largest industry and remained stable.Under the new development pattern, there is still much room in fostering new momentum for China's industries.Spe-cifically,upgrading of the demand structure gives rise to new momentum for the service industry;the develop-ment of new technologies and industries forms new momentum;the release of four major demands for domestic substitution fosters new momentum;the rapid development of emerging economies drives China's exports;and the release of vitality from small and medium-sized private enterprises stimulates new momentum.Targeting the five directions, precise reform measures should be taken to unleash new momentum for industrial develop-ment and promote the transformation of new and old momentum for China's industries.
