The Impact of Electronic Products Use on the Health of Junior High School Students
Objective To understand the usage behavior and health impact of electronic products among junior high school students,in order to provide suggestions for the rational use of electronic products for their physical and mental health.Method A cross-sectional study was conducted among 730 junior high school students using cluster sampling method.Results The electronic products commonly used by middle school students were tablets(69.32%)and mobile phones(57.12%);mainly using electronic products for online learning(89.18%)and searching for learning related materials(86.03%);81.51%of students reported being able to control their usage time and not becoming addicted,while 61.10%of students turned on teenage mode while using it.In term of the adverse health effects caused by the use of electronic products,"prolonged internet use leading to decreased vision,eye soreness,and dryness"ranked first(58.77%);192 students(26.30%)reported being very or relatively dependent on electronic products.Factors such as whether to activate adolescent mode,dependence on electronic products,and video distance are the factors that lead to adverse health reactions when using electronic products.Conclusion Long term continuous use of electronic products can have certain physiological and psychological health effects on middle school students,and effective intervention measures should be taken for their knowledge,attitude,and behavior in the rational use of electronic products.
