Objective To explore the effect of empowerment education model on self-management ability of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in communities.Methods Total 110 patients with type 2 diabetes were selected from a Community Health Caare Center of Jing'an District,from November 2020 to April 2021.They were randomly divided into control group(55 cases)and experimental group(55 cases).The control group was given routine health education,and the experimental group was given empowerment education mode.The changes in empowerment ability,quality of life,and self-management ability between two groups of patients before and after intervention were changed.Results Compared with the control group,the experimental group showed significant improvement in quality of life and self-management ability,with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The score of empowerment ability had improved,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion The health education model based on empowerment theory can improve the quality of life and self-management ability of type 2 diabetes patients in the community.
