Objective To analyze the current situation of knowledge,belief,and practice in myopia prevention and control among students of a primary school in Shanghai,and provide the data support and suggestions for subsequent health education.Methods A survey was conducted among students in grades form 2 to 5 of a primary school in Xuhui District,Shanghai,using a survey method.Results The average scores of myopia prevention and control knowledge,belief level,and behavior level for primary school students were(4.57±1.40)points,(4.96±1.09)points,and(9.15±1.90)points,respectively.The awareness rate of the two items"Response measures when myopia occurs"and"Common methods for preventing myopia"were the highest,both above 92%.There was a statistically significant difference in knowledge and behavior scores among students with different grades(P<0.05).The belief score of students diagnosed with myopia were higher than that of students not diagnosed with myopia.There was a statistically significant difference(P<0.05)in the scores of myopia prevention and control beliefs among students with different degrees of myopia from their parents.Conclusion The current situation of myopia knowledge,belief,and behavior among primary school students still requires efforts in certain aspects.Health educators should cooperate more targeted with families and schools.
