A Case-Control Study on Risk Factors for Colorectal Cancer in Songjiang District,Shanghai
Objective To explore the risk factors for colorectal cancer among residents in Songjiang District,Shanghai.Methods A case-control study was conducted to conduct univariate and multivariate analyses of the risk factors for colorectal cancer among the study subjects.Results The univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05)in the history of chronic diarrhea,history of mucous or/or bloody stools,history of intestinal polyps,history of cancer,smoking behavior,fecal occult blood test,history of colorectal cancer in first-degree relatives,and smoking status between the case group and the control group residents.Multivariate analysis found that a history of chronic constipation,first-degree relatives with colorectal cancer,and intestinal polyps were all independent risk factors for colorectal cancer.Conclusion Individuals with a history of chronic constipation and intestinal polyps,as well as first-degree relatives with a history of colorectal cancer,have a significantly increased risk of developing colorectal cancer,and attention should be paid to the impact of smoking behavior on colorectal cancer.
