Objective To analyze the effect of applying health education in elderly hypertension nursing. Methods A total of 76 elderly hypertensive patients who visited and were hospitalized in a certain hospital from February 2020 to February 2022 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 38 patients in each group. The control group received routine nursing care, while the observation group received additional health education on the basis of the control group's nursing care.Using the Difference in Differences Method, the changes in diastolic and systolic blood pressure,self-management behavior, and self-efficacy of two groups of patients were analyzed before and after intervention. Results After the intervention, the blood pressure levels,self-management scores, and self-efficacy scores of both groups of patients improved, and the degree of improvement was more significant among observers. The net effect of the intervention was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Incorporating health education into the nursing process can enhance the health awareness and blood pressure control awareness of elderly hypertensive patients, encourage them to cooperate with doctors to control their blood pressure within a reasonable range, and actively rely on exercise, diet, and medication. It can also give patients more confidence in disease management and self-efficacy,achieving long-term stable blood pressure.
