Analysis on the Relationship Between Smoking Behavior and Health Literacy Level of Residents in Putuo District of Shanghai
Objective To understand the correlation between health literacy and current smoking behavior of residents in Putuo District of Shanghai,and to provide a basis for tobacco control.Methods By multistage random sampling,a total of 1 320 residents aged 15-69 in this area were selected as the subjects for questionnaire investigation.Results The health literacy rate of residents aged 15-69 in Putuo District was 40.57%,and the current smoking rate was 14.09%.The difference of smoking rates of residents with different gender,age,education level,occupation and chronic diseases status were statistically significant(P<0.05);the smoking rates of those who had scientific health concept,safety and first aid,and basic medical literacy were lower than those who did not(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the smoking rate of men was higher than that of women,the age group of 45-54 years old now had the highest smoking rate,and the current smoking rate of people without chronic diseases was lower than that of those with chronic diseases.Conclusion The current smoking rate of residents was influenced by many factors.In the future,health education should be carried out for people with different characteristics in order to improve their health literacy and reduce the smoking rate.
