Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between smoking status and abnormal blood pressure, and provide more basis for the popularization and education of smoking hazards. Methods A total of 16 251 permanent residents aged 35-75 were selected from 12 communities in Yangpu District for questionnaire survey and blood pressure measurement. Results The abnormal blood pressure rate of smokers(53.52%)was higher than that of non-smokers(46.96%,P<0.01).The abnormal blood pressure rate of male smokers was 54.49%,which was higher than that of female smokers(39.85%,P<0.01).In the population with abnormal blood pressure, the average value of diastolic blood pressure in smokers was(97.32±7.71)mmHg,which was higher than that in non-smokers with(95.79±5.85)mmHg.The results of the multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the older the smoking age,the higher the rate of abnormal blood pressure. Conclusion Smoking poses a risk of abnormal blood pressure, and the longer the smoking age,the greater the potential danger of abnormal blood pressure. Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen the promotion of smoking hazards.
