Efficacy and safety of acupuncture in treating chemotherapy-associated peripheral neuropathy of breast cancer
Objective To study the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of chemotherapy-associated periph-eral neuropathy(CIPN)of breast cancer. Methods A total of 100 patients with CIPN from February 2019 to October 2022 from Nanchang People's Hospital were selected as the research objects. They were divided into experimental group and con-trol group by random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The experimental group was treated with warm acupuncture, while the control group was treated with conventional drugs combined with simple acupuncture. The CIPN condition, functional status, and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results The proportion of National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria(NCI-CTC)grade in experimental group was better than that in control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,Karnofsky score(KPS)score of experimental group was higher than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,European Organization for Reasearch and Treatment of Cancer of Quality of Life Questionnare-Core 30(EORTCQLQ-C30)score of experimental group was higher than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Warm acupuncture and moxibustion is effective in the treatment of CIPN of breast cancer, and can effectively improve the functional status and quality of life of patients. It is worth promoting.
