Objective To explore research situation of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of lower limb ischemic dis-ease and study the hot spots and development trend in this field. Methods Literature related to the China National Knowl-edge Network(CNKI)and the Web of Science database(WOS)from January 2012 to December 2022 were searched.CiteS-pace software was used to analyze the number of publications,countries,institutions,authors,co-cited literatures and key-words of the included literatures and generate a knowledge graph. Results A total of 1 447 Chinese literatures and 58 Eng-lish literatures were included, with a steady increase in the annual number of publications, but a decrease in the number of Chinese literatures in 2020.The key treatment principles are removing saprophytic and invigorating qi and activating blood, etc.Diabetic foot is a hot research disease and external treatment methods such as traditional Chinese medicine foot soaking and acupressure have attracted high attention.Astragalus and rehmannia medicine and effective ingredients such as cin-namaldehyde,ferulic acid and astragaloside have attracted great attention and the cystathioneine γ-lyase(CSE)-hydrogen sulfide(H2S)-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)axis and the phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(AKT)and mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling pathways are of great interest. Conclusion At present,a China-centered international cooperation network has been formed in this field and is developing gradually. However, the communication and cooperation between institutions and authors are insufficient and need to be strengthened. The treatment of diabetic foot is a hot research topic and the re-sults are mostly reported as clinical efficacy. The relevant mechanism is worth digging deeply.
