Effect of Brucea javanica oil emulsion combined with radiotherapy on serum tumor markers and quality of life in middle-aged and elderly pa-tients with esophageal cancer
Objective To investigate the efficacy of Brucea javanica oil emulsion combined with radiotherapy in mid-dle-aged and elderly patients with esophageal cancer.Methods A total of 96 middle-aged and elderly patients with esophageal cancer admitted to the Nantong Tongzhou People's Hospital from January 2019 to December 2022 were selected as the research objects.They were divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method,with 48 cases in each group.The control group was treated with radiotherapy,and the observation group was treated with Brucea javanica oil emulsion on the basis of the control group.The serum tumor markers,clinical efficacy,qual-ity of life,and adverse reactions were compared between two groups.Results After treatment,the levels of serum carbohy-drate antigen 199(CA199),cancer associated carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125)and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)in serum tumor markers in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statisti-cally significant(P＜0.05).The disease control rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group,with statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).The scores of all dimensions in the GQOLI-74 comprehensive assessment questionnaire for quality of life after treatment in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,with statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).Conclusion The combination of Brucea javanica oil emulsion and radiotherapy for middle-aged and elderly patients with esophageal cancer can reduce the level of serum tumor markers,achieve better disease control effect,reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions,and improve the quality of life.
