For cancer patients and patients who need to undergo various intravenous infusion treatments for a long time,re-peated venipuncture and drug stimulation not only bring pain to patients, but also increase the operation difficulty and work burden of nurses, and pipeline maintenance is also extremely inconvenient. With the continuous development of medical technology and the popularity of infusion port in clinical practice,as well as its advantages such as long service cycle, easy operation and less maintenance, infusion port has been accepted by more and more patients. However, some related complications have also occurred during the placement and use of infusion port, among which catheter shedding(breakage)is the most serious complication. This paper reported a case of catheter shedding to the right atrium of the intravenous infusion port in the Nuclear Industry 417 Hospital, combined with the selection of puncture path during implantation of the intravenous infusion port, the connection mode and skills of the intravenous infusion port, made a comprehensive analysis of the factors related to catheter shedding from the aspects of doctor's operation, nursing staff maintenance and patients'self-management,so as to formulate countermeasures, prevent and reduce the risk of catheter shedding.
