Objective The epidemic status of water-borne endemic fluorosis in Zibo City,Shandong Province was investi-gated and analyzed by cross-sectional investigation.Methods From June to December 2021,the villages in the original flu-orosis areas and suspected disease areas in 7 districts and counties under the jurisdiction of Zibo City(Zhangdian,Linzi,Zhoucun,Boshan,Huantai,Gaoqing,Yiyuan)were investigated and register one by one.The prevalence of dental fluorosis in 1 200 school children aged 8-12 years was investigated and analyzed.The operation status and water quality of 114 water improvement and defluorination projects in Zibo were monitored and analyzed.Results Endemic fluorosis was widely dis-tributed in the city.There were 459 endemic fluorosis endemic villages in 3 102 administrative villages in 7 districts and counties,with 280 000 people endangered by high fluoride.Gaoqing was the most serious area of endemic fluorosis in the city,and the endemic villages account for 75.2%of the total.The number of villages in the moderately ill areas in Gaoqing accounts for 92.2%of the total number of villages in the moderately ill areas.The 12 seriously ill areas were all located in Gaoqing.Gaoqing was also the area with the highest prevalence of dental fluorosis among children aged 8-12 years old.The detection rate of dental fluorosis among 88 children in 20 villages was 100%.Due to the impact of geographical environment,climate and economic conditions,only 224 of the 345 villages in Gaoqing have implemented water improvement projects,accounting for 64.9%,which was the area with the lowest water improvement rate in the city's wards.Conclusion The epi-demic trend of endemic fluorosis in Zibo City is generally low,but the prevention and control situation of endemic fluorosis in Gaoqing County is still very serious.It is necessary to increase the investment of prevention and control funds and the im-plementation of measures to change water and reduce fluo-ride,so as to make efforts to control the epidemic of en-demic fluorosis as soon as possible and protect the people from the threat of endemic fluorosis.
