Analysis of cognitive dysfunction and its influencing factors in epilepsy patients
Objective Analysis of cognitive dysfunction in patients with epilepsy and its influencing factors, improve the control effect of the disease. Methods A total of 80 patients with epilepsy cognitive dysfunction diagnosed and treated in Quanzhou First Hospital from October 2021 to February 2023 were selected and included in the observation group, while 80 patients with epilepsy with normal cognitive function were selected and included in the control group. The cognitive function was evaluated in both groups, and the influencing factors of cognitive dysfunction in epilepsy patients were analyzed by lo-gistic regression. Results Attention, abstraction, delayed recall, orientation score and Montreal cognitive assessment scale(MoCA)score in observation group were lower than those in control group, with statistical significances(P<0.05).Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in years of education, age of onset, course of disease, frequency of at-tack and type of medication between the two groups(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic analysis results showed that the years of schooling were<12 years(OR[95%CI]:1.052[1.005,1.065],P=0.013),the age of onset was<17 years(OR[95%CI]:2.375[2.158,2.568],P=0.008),duration>5 years(OR[95%CI]:1.520[1.012,2.036],P=0.042),frequency>3 times/year(OR[95%CI]:3.185[3.080,3.420],P=0.001]),the use of anti-epileptic drugs with significant effects on cognitive function(OR[95%CI]:4.475[4.052,5.965],P=0.029)were independent risk factors for cognitive impairment in patients with epilepsy. Conclusion Cognitive dysfunction in patients with epilepsy is mainly manifested in attention, abstraction, delayed recall and orientation scores.Education years<12 years, onset age<17 years, course of disease>5 years, seizure frequency>3 times/year,and use of anti-epileptic drugs have a great impact on cognitive function are the influencing factors of cognitive dysfunction in patients with epilepsy.
