Expression significance of vasoactive intestinal peptide in patients with di-abetic neurogenic bladder
Objective To investigate the expression of vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)in patients with diabetic neuro-genic bladder(DNB).Methods A total of 60 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)admitted to the Department of Endocrinology of Jiujiang NO.1 People's Hospital from January 2021 to May 2023 were selected as study subjects. They were divided into study group 1 and study group 2 according to whether they were accompanied by DNB.Among them,27 patients with DNB were assigned as study group 1,and the remaining 33 patients with simple diabetes were assigned as study group 2.Thirty healthy subjects who underwent physical examination in hospital during the same period were selected as control group,10 ml of elbow venous blood was extracted from all subjects on an empty stomach, and blood glucose(hemoglobin[HbA1c],fasting blood glucose[FPG]),blood lipid(total cholesterol[TC],triglyceride[TG],high-density lipoprotein cholesterol[HDL-C],low-density lipoprotein cholesterol[LDL-C])and VIP were detected. The differences of blood glucose, blood lipid and VIP levels among the three groups were compared, and the correlation between serum VIP,blood glucose, blood lipid and DNB occurrence in T2DM patients were analyzed. Results The results of single factor analy-sis showed that the HbA1c,FPG and VIP detection values of study group 1 and study group 2 were higher than those of control group, and the detection values of each index of study group 1 were higher than those of study group 2,with statistical significances(P<0.05).The values of TG,TC and LDL-C in study group 1 and study group 2 were higher than those in control group, and the values of all indexes in study group 1 were higher than those in study group 2,with statistical significances(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in HDL-C detection value among the three groups(P>0.05).The levels of HbA1c,FPG,VIP,TG,TC and LDL-C were positively correlated with DNB occurrence in T2DM patients(r=0.621,0.614,0.337,0.353,0.459,0.265,P<0.05).Conclusion Serum VIP is significantly elevated in DNB patients, which can be used as an effective index for early DNB screening.
