Application of modified external fixation brace in pre-hospital emergency treatment of severe traumatic fracture
Objective To investigate the application value of modified external fixation brace in pre-hospital emergency treatment of severe traumatic fracture. Methods A total of 60 patients with severe traumatic fracture admitted to Department of Emergency of Ganzhou Medical Emergency Center from July 2021 to June 2022 were retrospectively selected as the re-search objects,30 patients admitted from July to December 2021 as the control group, and 30 patients admitted from January to June 2022 as the observation group. The control group was treated with traditional external fixation, and the observation group was treated with modified external fixation brace. The operation time of external fixation and the release rate of exter-nal fixation were compared between the two groups, the pain degree[visual analogue scale(VAS)]and comfort level[general comfort questionnaire(GCQ)]before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and the World Health Or-ganization of life-BREF(WHOQOL-BREF)was compared between the two groups before and after treatment. The satisfac-tion of the two groups after treatment was compared. Results The operation time of external fixation in observation group was shorter than that in control group, and the release rate of external fixation was lower than that in control group, the differ-ences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no significant differences in VAS and GCQ scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,VAS scores of the two groups was lower than those before treatment,GCQ scores were higher than those before treatment, and VAS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group,GCQ score was higher than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The over-all analysis showed that the differences among groups, time points in WHOQOL-BREF scores of two groups were statistical-ly significant(P<0.05).The WHOQOL-BREF scores of two groups at 3 and 6 months after treatment were higher than those before treatment, with statistical significances(P<0.05).The WHOQOL-BREF scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group at 3 and 6 months after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total satisfaction of patients in observation group was higher than that in control group, and the difference was sta-tistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The modified external fixation brace has high application value in the pre-hos-pital emergency treatment of severe traumatic fractures, which can effectively shorten the fixation time, reduce the rate of loosening, reduce the pain of patients, improve the comfort and quality of life, and obtain higher patients' satisfaction.
