Clinical study on the treatment of primary sarcopenia in the elderly and secondary sarcopenia after stroke with heat sensitive moxibustion
Objective To explore the application value of heat sensitive moxibustion in the treatment of elderly patients with primary sarcopenia and secondary sarcopenia after stroke. Methods A total of 80 elderly patients with primary sarcopenia and secondary sarcopenia after stroke admitted to Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nan-chang Medical College from July 2018 to July 2022 were selected as the research subjects, they were divided into control group and observation group using the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group re-ceived routine rehabilitation treatment, while the observation group received thermal moxibustion treatment on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for 3 months. The appendicular skeletal muscle mass index(ASMI),muscle ac-tivity function, arm maximum grip strength, and hemorheology of the two groups were compared. Results The ASMI,short physical performance battery(SPPB)score and maximum arm grip strength of the observation group after treatment were higher than those of the control group, while whole blood viscosity high shear, whole blood viscosity low shear, plasma vis-cosity(PV)and packed cell volume(PCV)were lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant differ-ences(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of heat sensitive moxibustion in elderly patients with primary myopenia and elderly patients with secondary myopenia after stroke can adjust the body hemorheology, improve the skeletal muscle quali-ty of their limbs and the grip strength of their arms, improve the function of muscle activity, and has higher clinical applica-tion value.
