Comparison of visual rigid laryngoscope and traditional laryngoscope in awake tracheal intubation in patients with difficult airway
Objective To study the comparison of visual rigid laryngoscope and traditional laryngoscope in awake tracheal intubation in patients with difficult airway. Methods A total of 90 patients with difficult airway admitted to Qingyang Peo-ple's Hospital were selected as the research objects.According to the different methods of conscious endotracheal intubation, they were divided into two groups. From June 2021 to October 2023,47 patients with difficult airway who underwent endo-tracheal intubation by laryngoscope were included in the rigid laryngoscope group. From January 2019 to May 2021,43 pa-tients with difficult airway who underwent endotracheal intubation by traditional laryngoscope technology were included in the traditional laryngoscope group. The mean arterial pressure(MAP)and heart rate(HR)before intubation(T0),after induc-tion of anesthesia(T1),3 min after completion of intubation(T2),and the total nasal symptom score(TNSS),nasal cavity vol-ume(NCV),incidence of postoperative adverse reactions before and after intubation in the traditional laryngoscope group and the rigid laryngoscope group were compared. Results The MAP and HR of the traditional laryngoscope group and the rigid laryngoscope group at T1 were lower than those at T0,the MAP and HR of the traditional laryngoscope group and the rigid laryngoscope group at T2 were higher than those at T1,and the MAP and HR of the rigid laryngoscope group at T2 were lower than those of the traditional laryngoscope group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).TNSS score af-ter intubation was lower than before intubation,NCV was higher than before intubation in traditional laryngoscope group and rigid laryngoscope group;the TNSS score after intubation in the rigid laryngoscope group was lower than that in the tradi-tional laryngoscope group, and the NCV score was higher than that in the traditional laryngoscope group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of total adverse reactions after intuba-tion between the traditional laryngoscope group and the rigid laryngoscope group(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with tra-ditional laryngoscope, visual rigid laryngoscope can reduce stress response and nasal symptoms after intubation in pa-tients with difficult airway.
