Pulpitis and apical periodontitis are two stages of development of dental pulp disease. The former is an inflam-matory reaction that occurs in the pulp tissue, while the latter is an inflammatory disease that stimulates the periapical tissue after further progression of pulpitis. The occurrence of inflammation causes significant pain in patients, which can be accompanied by bite pain and affect eating.Over time,it can affect overall health and seriously reduce quality of life.CircRNA is a type of biologically active nucleic acid molecule that belongs to endogenous non coding RNA,while miRNA is a highly conserved single stranded RNA sequence synthesized by processing hair clip precursors, both of which are widely present in organisms.CircRNA has complementary miRNA binding sites and can serve as a miRNA sponge.Through competitive endogenous RNA mechanisms,it regulates the expression of downstream target genes and is closely related to the occurrence of inflammatory diseases in the body.CircRNA can regulate dental pulp stem cells, apoptosis, and inflammatory response, promoting their osteogenesis and differentiation; And miRNA has been confirmed to play an important role in the pathogenesis of apical periodontitis. This review elucidates the widespread involvement of circRNA miRNA in numerous inflammatory reactions in the body, elucidates the role of miRNA and circRNA in pulpitis and periapical periodontitis, and hopes to provide a basis for the development of new prevention, diagnosis, and treatment methods.
