Objective To evaluate the value of perinatal intracranial vascular ultrasound on predicting short stature.Meth-ods A total of 50 children who performed normal prenatal examination and perinatal(late pregnancy, neonatal period)in-tracranial vascular ultrasound examination and were confirmed as short stature by growth hormone provocation test at 2~6 years after birth in Yichun People's Hospital and Jiangxi Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2020 to June 2023 were collected as observation group using retrospective analysis, and 50 children with normal birth height who underwent perinatal intracranial vascular ultrasound examination were collected as control group. The blood flow parameters of middle cerebral artery in the two groups were reviewed in fetal period and neonatal period, including peak systolic velocity(PSV),maximum end-diastolic velocity(EDV),ratio of peak systolic velocity to end-diastolic velocity(S/D)and resistance index(RI),and the value of the above parameters on predicting short stature was analyzed. Results There were no significant differences of the PSV,EDV,RI and S/D of fetal middle cerebral artery in late pregnancy between two groups(P>0.05).In neonatal period, the PSV and EDV of fetal middle cerebral artery in observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The RI of fetal middle cerebral artery was higher than that in control group, with a significant difference(P<0.05).The blood flow parameters of middle cerebral artery in neonatal pe-riod had good efficiency on predicting short stature. The prediction efficiency of middle cerebral artery RI in the neonatal period was the highest. When the cut-off value of middle cerebral artery RI was>0.71 ml/min,the Youden index, area un-der the curve(AUC),sensitivity and specificity were 0.637,0.771,76.19%,and 87.50%in predicting short stature.Con-clusion The blood flow parameters of middle cerebral artery are abnormal in neonatal period of children with short stature, and the above parameters have good predictive efficiency on short stature and can provide effective guidance for follow-up diagnosis and treatment.
