Application effect of monofocal Toric intraocular lens in cataract patients with low degree corneal astigmatism with-the-rule
Objective To investigate the application effect of monofocal Toric intraocular lens in phacoemulsification com-bined with intraocular lens implantation with low degree corneal astigmatism with-the-rule(WTR).Methods From Septem-ber 2021 to March 2022,a total of 65 cataract patients with low degree corneal astigmatism WTR who underwent pha-coemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation in the Yanbian University Hospital were retrospectively ana-lyzed.According to the patients'economic conditions and their own demand for visual quality, they were divided into Toric group(35 cases)and control group(30 cases)according to patients'subjective wishes. The Toric group underwent pha-coemulsification combined with implantation of monofocal Toric intraocular lens, while the control group underwent pha-coemulsification combined with implantation of monofocal intraocular lens. The uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA),uncorrected near visual acuity(UNVA),residual astigmatism,Steller's ratio(SR),contrast sensitivity,high-order aberration, and National Eye Institute visual function questionnaire(NEI-VFQ-25)scores were compared between the two groups.Re-sults The UDVA and UNVA of the two groups at 1 week,1 month and 3 months after operation were lower than those before operation, and the UNVA and UNVA of the Toric group at 1 week,1 month and 3 months after operation were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The residual astigmatism in the Toric group was lower than that in the control group at 3 months after surgery, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 3 months of surgery, the SR measured un-der natural light in the Toric group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 3 months of surgery, the Toric group had a higher contrast sensitivity at 18 c/d than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 3 months of surgery, there was no statistically significant difference in total high-order aberrations between the two groups under natural light with small pupils(P>0.05).The NEI-VFQ-25 score of the Toric group at 3 months after surgery was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Toric IOL can better improve visual quality and quality of life in the treatment of cataract patients with low grade corneal astigmatism WTR after phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation.
