Application value of glass ionomer cement in the treatment of interproxi-mal caries of posterior teeth and its effect on masticatory function
Objective To investigate the application value of glass ionomer cement in the treatment of interproximal caries of posterior teeth. Methods A total of 76 patients with interproximal caries of posterior teeth admitted to Ganzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2022 to September 2023 were selected as the study objects, and they were divided into control group(n=38)and study group(n=38)according to sealed envelope method. The control group was filled with silver amalgam, and the study group was filled with glass ionomer cement. The repair effects of the two groups were compared, and the gingival index(GI),sulcus bleeding index(SBI),plaque index(PLI),clinical attachment level(CAL)and modified Mann assessment of swallowing ability(MASA)scores before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. And the incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups. Results The effective rate of repair in the study group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the scores of periodontal status between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the SBI,PLI and CAL scores of the two groups were higher than those before treatment, but the SBI,PLI and CAL scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in GI score between the two groups before and after treatment(P>0.05).Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in MASA score between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the MASA scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the MASA score of the study group was lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of posterior dental caries, glass ionomer cement has significant application value, which can improve the repair efficiency, improve periodontal indexes, and enhance masticatory function without increasing the risk of adverse reactions.
