Investigation and analysis of vitamin D levels in 3 067 children aged 0-17 years in Hengyang area
Objective To investigate the level and deficiency of 25-hydroxyvitamin D(25-OH-VD)in serum of 0-17 year old children in Hengyang area, and to provide scientific basis for rational vitamin D supplementation for children in Hengyang area. Methods The serum 25-OH-VD levels of 3 067 children aged 0-17 years who underwent routine physical examination in the Women and Children's Health Hospital of Hengyang from January 2022 to December 2023 were retro-spectively analyzed. The serum 25-OH-VD level was detected by chemiluminescence method, and the relationship between the level and age,sex and season was analyzed and compared. Results The average level of serum 25-OH-VD in 3 067 children aged 0-17 years was(35.70±11.29)ng/ml,the 25-OH-VD deficiency rate was 6.7%,the insufficiency rate was 25.6%,and the sufficiency rate was 67.7%.There was no statistical significance in the 25-OH-VD level of children of different genders(P>0.05),but there was statistical significance in the distribution of 25-OH-VD level of children of dif-ferent genders(P<0.05).The serum 25-OH-VD deficiency rate of women was higher than that of men.The level and dis-tribution of serum 25-OH-VD in children of different ages had statistical significances(P<0.05),and the level and suffi-ciency of serum 25-OH-VD decreased with the increase of children's age.The 25-OH-VD level and distribution in different seasons had statistical significances(P<0.05),and the 25-OH-VD level was the highest in autumn and the lowest in winter.Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that age and season were independent factors affecting 25-OH-VD level(P<0.05).Conclusion To prevent the diseases, which related to vitamin D,regular physical examinations should be conducted in children, and the supplement of vitamin D should be strengthened, based on the individual situation of children. The time for outdoor activity in chidren also should be incresed, especially for school-age and adolescent children.
