Objective To explore the effect of mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy on anticipatory grief in spouses of young and middle-aged patients with advanced cancer. Methods A total of 74 spouses of patients treated in Jiangxi Cancer Hospital from April to June 2021 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into the control group and the ob-servation group by the random number table method, with 37 cases in each group. The control group was given routine health education and psychological nursing, and the observation group was given mindfulness-based decompression therapy. The anticipatory grief scale(AGS),the caregiver burden scale(CBI)and the mindful attention awareness scale(MAAS)were used to evaluate the effect on spouses of patients 1 day before and 8 weeks after the intervention. Results After intervention, the total scores of AGS and CBI in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After intervention, the total score of MAAS in observation group was higher than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy can reduce the anticipatory sadness level of spouses of middle-aged and young patients with advanced cancer,re-duce the burden of spouse care, and improve their quality of life and mindfulness level, which is worth promoting.
