Objective To explore the effect of gout attacks on subsequent cardiovascular events in patients with gout.Meth-ods A total of 80 gout patients admitted to the Department of Endocrinology,Zhoushan Branch Ruijin Hospital Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine from March 2020 to February 2021 were selected as the study objects.According to whether cardiovascular events occurred, they were divided into gout with cardiovascular events group(n=38)and gout with-out cardiovascular events group(n=42).Logistic regression was used to assess the effect of recent past gout attacks on car-diovascular events. The probability of a recent flare was calculated by comparing patients who had a flare during a specific time period within 180 days of the exponential cardiovascular event with those who had no or had a flare before. Results The smoking, drinking and cardiovascular disease history in gout with cardiovascular events group were higher than those in gout without cardiovascular events group, and the Charlson comorbidities index was lower than those in gout without cardiovascu-lar events group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in body mass index, diagnosis time of gout, diabetes mellitus with target organ damage, chronic kidney disease ≥ stage 3,hypertension,a-trial fibrillation, hypercholesterolemia, antiplatelet drugs, uric acid lowering drugs,diuretics,non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoids and colchicine between the two groups(P>0.05).In the fully adjusted model, compared with gout without cardiovascular events group, patients in gout with cardiovascular events group had significantly higher probability of gout attacks within the first 0-60 days and>60-120 days, but there was no significant difference in the probability of gout attacks within>120-180 days(P<0.05).Conclusion Among patients with gout, those who have experi-enced gout have a higher chance of having a recent cardiovascular event.
