Objective By searching the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)database, this study aims to review the literature on the care of low birth weight infants, analyzing the current status, development, and hotspots of research in this field. Methods CiteSpace was used to visualize and analyze the research related to the care of low birth weight infants from 2000 to 2022.The search type was"low birth weight infants"or"low birth weight infants"or"low birth weight prema-ture infants"or"premature low birth weight newborns",and"nursing".The number and change trend of the main research literature were published, and the author cooperation, institutions and keywords were visually analyzed. Results This re-search area has received widespread attention from researchers.A total of 869 documents related to the care of low birth weight infants were identified between 2000 to 2022.Collaboration within author teams was tight, but there was a lack of connection between different teams.Institutional collaborations were not closely knit. The research keywords in the care of low birth weight infants could be divided into 11 clusters, with the clustering results being reasonable and the research themes within each category being relatively focused.Twenty emerging terms were identified, with the hotspots from 2010 to 2022 being"nursing intervention","nursing effect",and"continuity of care"among others. Conclusion There should be an emphasis on enhancing communication and collaboration among researchers in this field, improving the flexible ap-plication of care methods for low birth weight infants in clinical practice, fully leveraging the advantages of com-bined care, and enhancing the health level of newborns in China.
