Effect of platelet-rich plasma combined with proximal femoral nail anti-rotation internal fixation on elderly unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures and its influence on quality of life
Objective To explore the value of platelet-rich plasma combined with proximal femoral nail anti-rotation(PFNA)internal fixation in the treatment of elderly patients with unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures.Methods Totally 80 el-derly patients with unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures admitted to Department of Orthopedics of Shangrao Municipal Hospital from May 2021 to August 2022 were selected as the research objects,and they were divided into study group(40 cases)and control group(40 cases)according to the random number table method.The control group received simple PFNA internal fixation,whereas the study group was treated with platelet-rich plasma combined with PFNA.Perioperative indica-tors,hip function,clinical efficacy,occurrence of complications and quality of life were compared between both groups.Re-sults The intraoperative blood loss,ambulation time,hospital stay and fracture healing time in study group were lower than those in control group,the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Overall analysis showed that there was a sta-tistically significant difference in Harris score scale(HSS)score from the aspects of time-point effect,between-group effect and interaction effect(P＜0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in study group was higher compared with that in control group,the total incidence rate of complications was lower in study group compared to control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no statistical significance in 36-item short-form health survey scale(SF-36)score between the two groups before surgery(P＞0.05).After surgery,the SF-36 score in study group was higher than that in control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Platelet-rich plasma combined with PFNA internal fixation can effectively improve the hip function,promote the recovery,enhance the therapeutic effect and quality of life,and help to reduce the possibility of complications in elderly patients with unstable femoral intertrochanteric fractures.
