Clinical efficacy of auricular pressure bean combined with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on negative emotions and sleep quality in patients with chronic schizophrenia
Objective:To investigate the effects of auricular pressure bean combined with mindfulness-based cog-nitive therapy intervention on negative emotions and sleep in patients with chronic schizophrenia, and to provide ref-erence for exploring rehabilitation strategies for chronic schizophrenia patients. Methods:A total of 105 patients with chronic schizophrenia hospitalized at the Baoshan District Mental Health Center in Shanghai from December 2022 to December 2023 were selected as study participants, with 50 in the intervention group and 55 in the control group. The control group received mental health education group therapy, while the intervention group was additionally provided with auricular acupressure and mindfulness-based cognitive intervention on top of the group therapy. The Positive and Negative Symptom Scale(PANSS),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Calgary Schizophrenia Depression Scale(CDSS),and Snaith-Hamilton Pleasure Scale(SHAPS)were used to assess the patients at baseline,as well as at the end of weeks 4,8,and 12 of the intervention. Results:There was no statistically significant difference between the PANSS,PSQI,CDSS,and SHAPS scores of the two groups before the intervention(P>0.05),and the PANSS,PSQI,CDSS,and SHAPS scores of the intervention group were compared with those of the control group at the end of the 8th and 12th weekends of the treatment(after 8 weeks:t=2.312,2.024,2.157,2.633;P<0.05 after 12 weeks:t=3.02,5.391,4.792,3.448;P<0.05).The group and time interactions of PSQI,CDSS,and SHAPS scales were sig-nificant(F=5.78,9.90,3.27;P<0.05).Conclusion:Auricular pressure bean combined with mindfulness-based cog-nitive therapy can improve certain psychiatric symptoms, negative emotions, and sleep quality in patients with chron-ic schizophrenia.
