Objective To investigate the current state of medical students'inclination towards seeking professional psychological assistance and its correlation with online self-presentation,perception of stress,and utilization of social support networks.Additionally,it aims to analyze the factors that influence these tendencies in order to provide valuable recommendations for psychological interventions targeted at medical students.Methods A sample of 450 college students was recruited in the study to complete self-report questionnaires including the Perceived Stress Scale,the Online Self-disclosure Scale,the Perceived Social Support Questionnaire and the Psychological Help-seeking Intention Questionnaire.Pearson's correlation,multiple linear regression,and Bootstrap methods were used to analyse the correlation,mediation,and moderation of scores on each scale.Results The intention of medical students to seek professional psychological help was scored at 3.53±1.10.There was a statistically significant difference in the intention to seek professional psychological help among medical students of different genders and places of origin(P<0.01).A positive correlation was found between online self-representation,perceived social support,and the intention to seek professional psychological help(r=0.28-0.41,P<0.01).Perceived socialsupportplayedamediatingroleintherelationshipbetweenonlineself-representationand the intention to seek professional psychological help.The mediating effect accounted for 35.71%of the total effect.Stress perception not only moderated the relationship between online self-representation and the intention to seek professional psychological help(β =-0.08,t =-2.28,P<0.05),but also moderated the relationship between online self-representation and perceived social support(β=0.09,t=2.75;P<0.01).Conclusions The professional psychological help-seeking intentions of medical students are moderately high.These intentions can be promoted by increasing online self-representation,apprehending social support,and decreasing the perception of stress.
