Objective To investigate the occurrence of abnormal tooth development in children in Deqing County and analyze its influencing factors.Methods General information of 1 046 children in Deqing County was collected,and their tooth development status was recorded.Logistic regression analysis was conducted to analyze the factors influencing the occurrence of abnormal tooth development in children.Results Out of the total participants,144 children were found to have experienced abnormal tooth development,resulting in a prevalence rate of 13.77%.Among the children with abnormal tooth development,a higher proportion was observed among those aged over 5 years old,residing in rural areas,having parents with a maximum education level of undergraduate or below,having a family annual income of≤30 million yuan,experiencing dental fear,frequently consuming desserts before bedtime,initiating tooth brushing after 1 year of age,consuming desserts more than twice a week,not seeking dental treatment,perceiving decay in primary teeth,and having a lower self-assessment of oral health(P<0.05).The Logistic regression analysis revealed that parental education level of undergraduate or below,family annual income of≤30 million yuan,dental fear,initiating tooth brushing after 1 year of age,consuming desserts more than twice a week,and having a poorer oral health status were identified as significant factors influencing the occurrence of abnormal tooth development in children(P<0.05).Conclusions The prevalence of abnormal tooth development in children in Deqing County is relatively high.It is recommended to conduct oral health education based on the actual situation,to help children overcome psychological barriers,and to effectively prevent abnormal tooth development in children.
