Investigation on occupational benefit of front-line clinical nurses in department of psychiatry and its correlation with occupational values and perceived stress
Objective To investigate the current status of occupational benefits among frontline psychiatric nurses, analyze their correlation with professional values and perceived stress, and to provide recommendations for stabilizing the psychiatric nursing workforce. Methods A survey was conducted among a sample of 160 frontline psychiatric nurses working in clinical settings. The survey instruments employed in this study included a general information survey form,a questionnaire on occupational benefits,a survey on professional values among nurses, and a perceived stress scale. Results The total score for perceived occupational benefits among the 160 psychiatric nurses was(120.64±15.56)points,while the total score for professional valueswas(87.85±10.84)points.The total score for perceived stress was(23.74±8.18)points.Significant differences in the total score for perceived occupational benefits were observed among psychiatric nurses with different professional titles, appointment methods, night shift frequencies, participation in clinical teaching, and involvement in research projects(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation between the total score for perceived occupational benefits and the total score for professional values among psychiatric nurses(r=0.858,P<0.05),as well as a negative correlation between the total score for perceived occupational benefits and the total score for perceived stress(r=-0.719,P<0.05).Multiple stepwise regression analysis indicated that professional title, participation in clinical teaching, participation in research projects, and professional values positively predicted perceived occupational benefits among psychiatric nurses, while perceived stress had a negative predictive effect(all P<0.05).Conclusions The perceived occupational benefits among frontline psychiatric nurses were found to be at a moderate level.Furthermore, these benefits were found to be associated with their professional values, perceived stress, professional titles, participation in clinical teaching, and involvement in research projects.Based on these findings,it is recommended that hospital administrators take measures targeting these factors to enhance the perceived occupational benefits of frontline psychiatric nurses.
