Objective To compare the incidence of professional burnout among medical staff before and after the establishment of health promotion hospitals,and to explore effective ways to reduce professional burnout among medical staff.Methods A questionnaire based on the maslach burnout Inventory was designed to assess burnout levels among medical staff.A random sample of 450 medical personnel was selected to investigate their burnout levels before and after the establishment of health promotion hospitals,in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.Results A total of 435 and 432 medical staff participated in the survey before and after the establishment of health promotion hospital,respectively.Before the establishment,the incidence of professional burnout among medical staff was 54.25%.There were statistically significant differences in burnout scores among medical staff of different genders,ages,educational levels,years of service,titles,and departments(P<0.01).After the establishment of health promotion hospital,the incidence of professional burnout among medical staff was 46.06%,which was lower than before the establishment,and this difference was statistically significant(x2=5.813,P=0.016).Conclusions The incidence of professional burnout among medical staff is relatively high,but the establishment of health promotion hospitals can effectively improve the situation of professional burnout among medical personnel.
