Objective To explore the factors influencing smartphone usage behavior among the floating elderly population, providing important references for promoting their integration into digital life. Methods A random sample of 254 floating elderly individuals in Hangzhou was selected to conduct a questionnaire survey on smartphone usage behavior.Based on the UTAUT model,a structural equation model was constructed to analyze the factors influencing smartphone usage behavior among the floating elderly population. Results The smartphone usage behavior score among 254 floating elderly individuals was(11.76±3.25)points.Statistically significant differences were observed in smartphone usage scores among floating elderly individuals of different ages, educational levels, and monthly incomes(P<0.05).Usage behavior was significantly positively correlated with performance expectations, effort expectations, social influence, and perceived enjoyment(r=0.730,0.657,0.732,0.675,all P<0.001);it was significantly negatively correlated with perceived risk(r=-0.570,P<0.001).A structural equation model showed that performance expectations(β=0.281),social influence(β=0.207),and effort expectancy(β=0.186)had significant positive effects on usage behavior, while perceived risk(β=-0.109)had a significant negative effect. The four latent variables explained 67.6%of the variance. Conclusions The smartphone usage behavior of floating elderly population needs improvement.Performance expectations, social influence, and effort expectations significantly bolster their intention to use smartphones, while perceived risk diminishes their intention to use.In the future, society should implement a variety of measures, such as offering personalized training courses, establishing support networks among friends and family, advocating for senior-friendly smartphone modifications, and intensifying anti-fraud propaganda,to fully support the floating elderly in better integrating into digital society.
