Epidemiological investigation and influencing factors of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome in Shangcheng district of Hangzhou
Objective To explore epidemiological investigation and influencing factors of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(RDS)in infants born in Shangcheng District,Hangzhou, and to provide references for the clinical management of RDS in this region. Methods A retrospective review was conducted of newborns admitted to obstetrics and gynecology hospitals in Hangzhou from January 2021 to November 2023.Data on general information and RDS occurrence in newborns were statistically analyzed, and a multifactorial Logistic regression analysis was used to observe the influencing factors of RDS in newborns. Results A total of 10 184 newborns were included, with 100 cases of RDS,including 63 males and 37 females;the prevalence of RDS in newborns was 0.98%.The prevalence rates of RDS at 25 to 31 weeks,32 to 33 weeks,34 to 36 weeks,37 to 38 weeks and 39 to 40 weeks were 51.28%,5.80%,3.22%,0.84%and 0.35%,respectively.The prevalence rates of RDS in newborns with birth weight of 992-1 499 g,1 500-2 499 g,2 500-4 000 g and 4 001-4 211 g were 55.77%,6.71%,0.15%and 0,respectively.Multifactorial analysis showed that maternal age>35 years(OR=5.296),gestational age≤36 weeks(OR=8.380),gestational diabetes mellitus(OR=5.312),pregnancy-induced hypertension(OR=4.493),fetal distress(OR=3.974),birth weight≤2 499 g(OR=17.228),cesarean section(OR=4.970)and dystocia(OR=1.865)were independent risk factors of neonatal RDS(P<0.05).Conclusions The prevalence of RDS in newborns in Shangcheng District,Hangzhou,is 0.98%,with multiple risk factors.Clinical attention should be paid to pregnant women with gestational diabetes and hypertension who are older and newborns with a gestational age of≤36 weeks and low birth weight.
