Objective To explore the influencing factors of the severity of video display terminal syndrome(VDTS)in young populations and provide a basis for the prevention and control of visual fatigue. Methods A total of 62 cases and 62 eyes of VDTS patients aged 20 to 40 years were included in the study, including 25 males and 37 females.Questionnaires, ophthalmological examinations and visual function tests were used to collect data.According to the symptoms of visual fatigue, they were divided into four groups:mild, moderate, severe and extremely severe.Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analyses were used to analyze the influencing factors of the degree of VDTS in young people. Results Univariate analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in the working overhead angle, age, cumulative VDT use time, ambient lighting, positive relative adjustment, and convergence near point among young people with different degrees of VDTS(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that ambient lighting(OR=0.967,95%CI:0.957-0.981)is an independent protective factor for visual fatigue(P<0.05).Conclusions The severity of VDTS in young populations is mainly influenced by environmental lighting, and it is recommended to develop strategies for the prevention of VDTS targeting environmental lighting.
