Torii Ryuzo was renowned in academic field as a Japanese anthropologist and archaeologist.He led his family numbers combine their studies of Manchuria and Mongolia with fieldwork and finally published high quality inves-tigation reports for their in-depth field investigation.When the whole family conducted into the foreign local communi-ties,collected data from original investigation results,they always remembered to keep the findings'objective.Their ob-jective and neutral academic activities and achievements had created Torii Ryuzo's image as a rigorous scholar.Howev-er,while Torii Ryuzo was conducting investigations in Manchuria and Mongolia,the Japanese government was also con-ducting aggression and expansion at the same area.Torii Ryuzo's researches was sponsored by the Japanese govern-ment.The Government also used Torii Ryuzo's study that shows the close friendship between Japanese and Manchuria and Mongolia to serve the government's aggressive expansion,which led later scholars to believe that Torii Ryuzo's in-vestigation also had a political purpose.The research on national policy driven under the political driving force of imperi-alism made that Manchuria and Mongolia investigation activities conducted by Torii Ryuzo and his family members had always been under the shadow of Japanese colonialism.
