The Contradictory Nature of Northeast Asian State Relations and China's Strategic Choices:A Perspective Intertwining Globalization and Geopolitics
Globalization and geopolitics are two of the foremost topics in today's world.During the period of rapid development of globalization, the existence and role of geopolitics had been obliterated, but when geopolitics began to rise again, globalization was considered to have been ended. However,in the actual development of international rela-tions,globalization and geopolitics are not simply oppositional but are mutually influencing and shaping each other. In the current situation, globalization and geopolitics are intertwined, leading to the fundamental contradictory logic of this era of great changes. This contradiction is reflected in the Northeast Asian region as the contradiction between the logic of development and the logic of power at the system level, the contradiction between regional integration and regional dispersion at the regional level, and the contradiction between regionalism and nationalism at the national policy choice level.Essentially, these contradictions are the unfolding of development and security issues at different levels under the intertwining of globalization and geopolitics. When facing these issues,China's diplomatic strategy should first adhere to the general direction of promoting globalization and maintaining world peace;Second,in the Northeast Asian region,it should be vigilant and grasp the key points of the contradictions; And finally,it should balance the domestic and inter-national overall situations and combine development and openness strategically.Viewing the state relations in Northeast Asia from the perspective of the intertwining of globalization and geopolitics can avoid one-sided pessimism or optimism and enable China's strategic choices to better conform to objective reality.
