Ideational Resources of the Global South and Theoretical Innovation of International Relations
With the shaping force of Global History and the Global Turn in international relations(IR)studies, the Global International Relations(the Global IR)is in a formative stage, along with the Global South as its critical subject. One of the Global IR missions is to realize a series of theoretical innovations in IR,and the Global South could afford a plenty of ideational resources. With the case studies on some essential international relations concepts of Southeast Asia,South Asia, the Middle East,Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, along with their basic meanings and general fea-tures,a starting point is set up for a research agenda mainly including such IR theoretical innovation efforts as:firstly, the Global South state doctrine, which incorporates the plenty and diversity of historical experiences and practices in the Global South and explains the origins, evolving periods, formations, elements and missions of state;secondly, the de-velopmentalism IR theory, which builds on development as a core concept and peace-development nexus as a primary proposition, and aims to generalize fundamental relations between development on the one hand, and state-building,peace and war,and stability and change in international system on the other;and thirdly, the complex regionalism, which concludes on history and reality of various regional processes around the whole world including the Global South, and, while ascertaining development and security indivisible, presents a series of theoretical statements on cooperation on regional, interregional and global levels, along with their participants and models.
