Based on the development of College English Test—Spoken English Test,Band 4(CET-SET4 for short)and the status quo of the washback the language tests exerted on teaching,this article analyzes the washback CET-SET4 has exerted on college English teaching in listening and speaking courses.Then several detailed corresponding approaches are put forward to improve college English teaching in listening and speaking courses.Namely,they are they are conducting time-limited training,assigning impromptu speeches,organizing situational role-plays,having group work,strengthening grammar teaching,and ameliorating pronunciation and intonation.All these approaches are aimed at improving the quality and the efficiency of the college English teaching in listening and speaking courses and promoting the Spoken English proficiency of college students.
